This November, Carol Van Noy and Genessa Rose are competing for a seat on the Riverview School District Board.
This contest is a no-brainer for me. Carol Van Noy is extraordinarily well qualified for re-election. She has sat on the school board for years, previously serving as board president and currently as its legislative representative. She’s also the fund development manager for the Empower Youth Network, and has worked in the nonprofit sector with United Way of King County and other nonprofits for 20 years. Van Noy is a hard worker, dedicated to youth in the Snoqualmie Valley.
Genessa Rose’s rhetoric often sounds as if she merely wants parents to be involved in their children’s schools. In fact, she’s a far-right ideologue who wants a few parents to regulate curricula and books in the schools so as to advance what she calls “Christian values.” She wants schools to eliminate all references to sexual and gender diversity and prohibit teaching about systemic racism as well as other topics that promote inclusivity and tolerance. Stay clear of her and encourage friends and neighbors to cast their vote for Carol Van Noy.
