November, 2023 Election: Duvall City Council Seat

This November’s election will include several seats on the Duvall City Council. Some are uncontested, but the one contested seat is being sought by Carol Kufeldt and C. William Chappell IV. Chappell has not filed a statement for the King County voters pamphlet.

I encourage you to vote for Carol Kufeldt on the basis of her experience and values. Here is her statement:

A long-time small business owner and 25-year resident, Carol Kufeldt is the leader we need. Carol is committed to helping the City adjust to the change we are experiencing by supporting policies that will help Duvall remain fiscally sound, manage growth and transportation effectively and improve the services and amenities our community desires.

She will listen to our community and ensure that Duvall is a welcoming home for all through her strong allyship of the LGTBQ+ and immigrant communities, supporting inclusive policies and expanded cultural events that share Duvall’s past, celebrate the present and imagine the future. One of Carol’s core values is acceptance of all and celebrating the diversity of our community.

Carol raised her family here and is an active volunteer (President, Duvall Friends of the Library, 2009-present) and community advocate.

Please spread the word to give Carol a resounding victory.

November, 2023 Election: Riverview School District Board Election

This November, Carol Van Noy and Genessa Rose are competing for a seat on the Riverview School District Board.

This contest is a no-brainer for me. Carol Van Noy is extraordinarily well qualified for re-election. She has sat on the school board for years, previously serving as board president and currently as its legislative representative. She’s also the fund development manager for the Empower Youth Network, and has worked in the nonprofit sector with United Way of King County and other nonprofits for 20 years. Van Noy is a hard worker, dedicated to youth in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Genessa Rose’s rhetoric often sounds as if she merely wants parents to be involved in their children’s schools. In fact, she’s a far-right ideologue who wants a few parents to regulate curricula and books in the schools so as to advance what she calls “Christian values.” She wants schools to eliminate all references to sexual and gender diversity and prohibit teaching about systemic racism as well as other topics that promote inclusivity and tolerance. Stay clear of her and encourage friends and neighbors to cast their vote for Carol Van Noy.
